The Invitation Cycle™

A Clearer Path Forward

Interrupt the pattern. Understand what it means. Integrate what matters. Intentionally choose what comes next.

Awareness · Understanding · Integration · Choice

“Change begins when awareness meets choice.”

The Rumination Loop

A REACTIVE CYCLE THAT KEEPS US STUCK

01

Trigger

Something happens inside or outside of us

03

Emotion

We feel distress
(anxiety, sadness
shame, anger).

04

Emotion

We feel distress
(anxiety, sadness
shame, anger).

02

Interpretation

We make meaning
(often negative
or self-critical).

Intentionally Choose

Choose a next step that aligns with your values and the life you want. Take a small, intentional action and release what you can't control.

THE RESULT

The same thoughts, the same emotions, and the same patterns
continue, keeping us stuck.

The Invitation Cycle™

A PROACTIVE PATH FROM REACTION TO INTENTION

1

Interrupt

CREATE SPACE

3

Integrate

BRING IT TOGETHER

4

Intentionally
Choose

TAKE PURPOSEFUL
ACTION

2

Interpret

EXPLORE MEANING

Interrupt

Pause the automatic reaction. Create space between the trigger and the loop. Use grounding, breath, movement, or other practices to break contact with the rumination cycle

Integrate

Connect the dots. Bring together what you're thinking, feeling, experiencing in your body, and learning about yourself. Gain a more complete and compassionate understanding.

Interpret

Look at what happened
with curiosity. Explore your thoughts, feelings, and the meanings you're making. Notice beliefs, assumptions, and patterns that may be contributing to distress.

The Cycle Is Repeatable

Life will continue to bring new challenges. The Invitation Cycle is not a one-time fix-it's a practical, repeatable process.

1

Builds Awareness

Each cycle increases
self-awareness and clarity.

2

Strengthens Capacity

With practice, it becomes easier to interrupt the loop.

3

Creates Greater Choice

You respond with intention rather than automatic reaction.

4

Supports Lasting Change

Progress comes from returning to the cycle again and again.
